–Grandma Jo’s Reading Counts Fund: In memory of Josephine Biondi August 23, 1919-October 4, 2009. Thank you to all who have contributed to Grandma Jo’s Reading Counts Fund. This fund was created in memory of Grandma Jo who volunteered as a dividend for over 25 years in Seminole County Public Schools serving the last nine years at Bentley Elementary. Grandma Jo’s life mission was to help other people, especially children. She wanted every child to be successful and to experience the joy of learning. To keep her mission alive, we created this fund to maintain the Reading Counts Program for our school. The Reading Counts Program encourages children to read for pleasure while building their comprehension skills. The school honors the children who are able to meet their reading goal with a Reading Counts Celebration. However, each year, on January 1st, the school is billed per child and a $200.00 technical support fee. The total is about $2,000.00. We are happy to say that Grandma Jo’s Fund was able to pay this bill for the 2010 school year. Currently, we have a balance of $834.00 which will be applied to the bill for the 2011 year. If you would like to contribute to this fund to ensure the continuation of the Reading Counts Program, please make your checks payable to Bentley’s Grandma Jo’s Reading Counts Fund.
