Welcome to Bentley’s PTA!!!!! This is the first of the weekly emails you will be receiving from the PTA that informs you of Bentley’s scheduled events for the week of August 15th (Sunday) – August 22nd (Sunday). You are receiving this because you are a current Bentley PTA member for the 2010-2011 school year. We thank you for taking part in your child’s education and showing your support for Bentley Elementary.

–Registered Dividends: Available online NOW!!! Go to https://www3.scps.k12.fl.us/secure/CommInv_Vol/Vols2003/vollogin.cfm to register for the 2010-2011 Dividend Program. Everyone who volunteers in any Seminole County Public School must register each school year and update your information each year before you can assist or go on field trips in any of the schools.

–First Day of School!!!!: Monday, August 16th

–Emergency Cards/Information Forms: Monday, August 16th. All paperwork for parents will be sent home on this day and is required to be returned the next school day (Tuesday, 8/17). Please make certain this is sent in with your child on Tuesday and their school planner is signed each day.

–CD/Tape Players Needed: Anyone who has a cd/tape player or recorder which is not being used, please recycle by donating them to Bentley Elementary. We have a great need for them in our primary classrooms since many of our reading teaching materials are on cassette tapes or cd’s. The students use the materials at listening centers. The tape/cd players and recorders are invaluable by allowing our students to learn new words or they are a great help in guiding them to becoming fluent readers. Contact Valena Harsh 407-871-9914, if you would like to donate. You may also just put ATTENTION: Mrs. Harsh on them and drop them off in the front lobby.

–Art Department: The Art Department is in need of Registered Dividend helpers, especially in Kindergarten (11:50-12:30) and 1st grade (12:40-1:20). Wednesday schedule = Kinder (9:00-9:30) and 1st grade (12:35-1:05). The schedules for Kinder and 1st Grade this week are as follows: Mon(8/16)=McGuire & Saracen; Tues (8/17)=Vales & Aviles; Wed(8/18)=Squier & Schell; Thurs(8/19)=Gennett & Gaines; Fri(8/20)=Durham & Backes.

–Simone Scholars: Begins Saturday, August 14th and continues until November 30th. Collect all your receipts from any purchases you have made between these dates at ANY Seminole Towne Center stores, restaurants or kiosks. Bring them to the Simon Guest Service Booth located in the center of the mall on the lower level outside of Belk. Every $1 spent counts as 1 point. Mall giftcards and Simon Kidgit Club receipts count as double points!!! The top 3 school will be awarded the cash prizes of $1,500 for 1st place, or $1,000 for 2nd place, or $500 or 3rd place. So gather your receipts from this past weekend of tax free shopping and turn them in for Bentley!!!!

–Crossing Guards Needed: The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office is looking to hire School Crossing Guards. They are trained and certified through the Florida Department of Transportation program. “A Look Ahead”

–Treat Cart: Monday, August 23rd @8:45AM. If you would like to help roll carts through the hallways to help pass out treats to Bentley Staff, please contact Sandy Owens (rsefamily@bellsouth.net). You must be a Registered Dividend to help on campus with this project that is held once a month on a Monday.

–McDonald’s Family Night: Tuesday, August 24th from 5:00PM-7:00PM. A portion of the proceeds goes towards PTA programs. Located off Lake Mary Blvd on Sun Drive in Lake Mary. –Entertainment Books: Wednesday, August 25th the Sally Foster Entertainment Coupon Books will be sent home for parents to purchase with proceeds benefiting Bentley. (This is NOT a PTA fundraiser.) All money and order forms are due back by Wednesday, Septemer 8th. More information for prizes, etc. will come with sample books in each child’s backpack.

–Principal’s Chat: Wednesday, August 25th during “Specials”.

–Bentley Dividend Reception: Thursday, August 26th @9:00AM in the multipurpose room of the main building. Please attend for more information on how to volunteer at Bentley or become involved in Mentoring, Math Super Stars, Super Scientist, chaperoning field trips, Media Center, PTA information, or other volunteer opportunities.

–Room Parent Meeting: Friday, August 27th @2:00PM in the PLC cafeteria. Room Parents will be contacted before the meeting for assignments.
